FROM THE OWENS GRIMOIRE
SPELL TWO: TO TEND WHAT GROWS

Purpose: To nourish newly awakened magic, protect the household, encourage good fortune, and produce one extremely effective Midnight Margarita.

After performing the first spell, you may notice certain changes.

The garden may grow more quickly.
The grimoire may open to pages you do not remember writing.
The blender may begin operating at midnight.

Do not panic. The magic is merely hungry.

Gather six herbs:

Basil for protection and prosperity.
Lavender for peace, luck and love.
Rosemary for remembrance.
Sage for wisdom and cleansing.
Thyme for courage.
Yarrow for healing and protection.

Plant them. Tend them. Speak kindly to them.

If you must threaten the basil occasionally, keep that between yourself and the basil.

Arrange the herbs around the Owens Grimoire. Add a little magic, one belladonna bottle and a generous measure of Midnight Margarita.

Stir clockwise.

Dance counterclockwise.

Repeat until the spell takes hold—or until someone falls backward over a kitchen chair.

Then speak:

“What was planted with love,
what was tended with care,
what has always lived within us,
let it rise.”
