It is with a frostbitten quill and a righteous sense of indignation that I pen this letter. I must protest—nay, howl into the winter night—at the glaring seasonal discordance of your upcoming January 20 pattern drop. January, dear Editor, is winter, a time for cozy cocoa and quiet snowfalls, not an encore of October’s eerie delights!
And yet, what do I find in this drop? Chibi Winifred, Mary, Sarah, Dani, and Zombie Billy from Hocus Pocus! Chibi Regan from The Exorcist! And Chibi Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre! Have you lost track of the calendar, or is this a clandestine attempt to spook the snowmen? Did the Tuesday Ghoul hijack your planning committee? These delightful (yet horrifying) characters are entirely out of place amidst the frost and flurries of January. My sledding hill will never be the same after a visit from Leatherface!
Now, lest I be labeled a complete curmudgeon, I must commend your inclusion of a few (admittedly paltry) non-horror patterns. Chibi Moo Deng, the pygmy hippo who has captured our collective hearts, is an excellent choice for these cold days. I find the additional Moo Deng designs—“Be Ungovernable,” indeed—to be both charming and inspirational. And the kawaii cloud and rainbow design, bearing the reassuring message “You are not your intrusive thoughts,” is a warm ray of sunshine amidst an otherwise frosty debacle.
But still, Editor, we must have standards! Winter is winter! Horror is for autumn! Please, I implore you, leave the chibi chainsaws and zombie spellbooks for September, or October at the very latest. If not for me, do it for the snowmen who are undoubtedly terrified.
Yours begrudgingly but with a small smile for Moo Deng,
A Very Seasonal Stitcher
